That's not my name, but you can call me Lorraine.
I was born somewhere in New Jersey but that doesn't really matter because I've lived in South Florida most of my life. I could spend all days life in tank tops, shorts and flip flops.
I love the beach, but cannot swim. I love to travel, but hate airplanes. I love chocolate. There is no second part to that, I just really, really love chocolate.
I'm 26 years old. Sometimes when I remember that, I cry a single tear. I work in the HR department of a medium sized but pretty well known company, and even though I often say I don't like people, I've found that I love working in HR.
I own over 200 bottles of nail polish because they make me so happy.
My parents are both Dominican. I have an older sister who is married and has two beautiful girls. I have a younger sister, whom I live with, and also has a baby girl.
I don't really know what I want to do with my life. I guess eat lots of dessert and not have to wear any pants. We can all dream a little dream.
the blog story:
This blog started in November of 2009, and was launched as a joint blog between Lorraine and her then best friend, Roxanne. Rox and I originally met freshman year of high school, and became very close. Every subsequent year, we drifted apart, until we graduated and lost touch completely.
In 2009, Facebook changed that. We found each other once more and became insta-best friends. We spent incredible amounts of time shopping, road tripping, shopping, watching baseball games, shopping and have deep life chats. While shopping.
We decided that we were missing a few things in our lives, all these years after high school: 1.) a creative outlet and 2.) lots of those nifty "being an adult" traits other people had. Thus, a blog named "Late to the Party."
Somewhere along the line, I fell in love with blogging and Roxanne fell out of love with it. She dropped out of the blog and it wasn't too long after that that she and I stopped speaking completely, for reasons outside of this blog.
The other part of this story is happy, though, as through Roxanne I also re-met Penny, who has been the most consistent thing in my life for the past three years. She is smart, quick witted, a champion sleeper and my best, good friend. Whenever the stars align just so, she writes a post here on the blog too.
Late to the Party is the something-like-the-story of my life. It's one sided, it's tongue-in-cheek, it's often sarcastic and most of the time, I'm just kidding. Probably.
Short stories, random observations, life recaps and the occasional horrendous Paint drawing. That is LttP.
